Is it worth the money to hire a professional locksmith for lock outs?

Yes! Trying to pick locks when you don’t have the key – if it’s any use at all – can be damaging to the lock itself, which means you might only end up buying a replacement lock! For a minimal fee, TN Premier Locksmith can work on the lock without any damage.

Where is TN Premier Locksmith based?

Q

I wish to duplicate one of my keys, however, it has a do not duplicate sign on it. What should I do?

Do not duplicate keys may generally be duplicated, however, we would require an authorization letter printed on company letterhead, containing all the specific requests such as type of key, number of copies to be duplicated, name of the person who will pick it up, and the exact date and time of pick-up. TN Premier Locksmith has the right to refuse any request to work on do not duplicate keys.

I lost my keys. What should I do first?

If you bought your car straight from the dealership, you should have access to the key code. This is either written on the cover of the owner’s manual or on the original bill of sale. Before calling for the locksmith, make sure you have the code. This will save you around $15 because then, the locksmith wouldn’t have to fit a key inside your car door’s lock.

Do you charge extra for towing?

TN Premier Locksmith provides road-side assistance for clients who are caught in a broken key or jammed ignition situation right in the middle of the road. This means you won’t need to pay for any towing fee as you don’t have to come to us – we come to you.

What’s a master key and do I need it?

A master key is the one key that has access to all the locks in a property. For example, in an office setup, there’s the CEO who owns the master key which opens all the doors within the building – no exceptions. Then, there are the department managers who have keys that open all the doors in their respective departments. The janitors or floor managers have keys only to the rooms they’re cleaning, and employees get keys only to their designated offices, drawers or shelves.
If you are the owner of the house, or if you’re running a property rental business, you need a master key to be able to keep up with the overall security of the place. Holding on to a lot of keys may cause mix-ups and can be quite inconvenient especially in times of emergency.

Should I rekey or should I just have my lock replaced?

Rekeying and lock replacement are two different things. When a lock is rekeyed, the internal pins of the lock are changed. While lock replacement, on the other hand, means removing the current lock and installing a new one in its place. If security is the main and only concern – say you’re unsure whether other people have keys to your lock, rekeying should be the cost-effective solution. But if the issue has anything to do with the lock being worn out or irreversibly damaged, a new one must be installed.
